A Zebras back leg isn't exactly a straw is it? It's leg bones are 3x thicker than a human adults leg bone, which is the strongest bone in your body. A crocs bite force is the strongest bite on the planet but even that doesn't have enough power to smash an adult horses leg. So they hang on, tiring out their prey and dragging them back into the water to drowned. Then they can tear pieces off and consume it.
